Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) Chairman Brown Ondego and KAA Managing Director Mohamud Gedi also attended the launch.
According to KQ CEO Allan Kivaluka, the new route is more about growing trade and global connections.
The London Gatwick Airport is now KQ’s second entry point to the UK after the London Heathrow Airport.
KQ is now expected to operate 10 flights per week between Kenya and the UK.
The launch comes days after President Ruto and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer agreed to an additional six weekly Kenya Airways flights between Nairobi and London.
