According to the board, Kilavuka was instrumental in steering Kenya Airways through the COVID-19 pandemic and later oversaw improvements in revenue performance and growth in freight operations.
The board and management expressed appreciation for Kilavuka’s leadership and service, and wished him well in his future engagements.
The board said Captain George Kamal will serve in an acting capacity effective Tuesday, December 16, as the airline begins the process of recruiting a substantive chief executive officer.
It added that Kamal will receive full support from the board as he assumes executive leadership during the interim period.
The board also reaffirmed its commitment to completing Kenya Airways’ ongoing turnaround strategy, which is focused on improving operational reliability, sustainability, and supporting the airline’s long-term growth objectives with the backing of shareholders.
