Kenya Airways Cancels New York–Nairobi Flight Due to Severe Weather

Kenya Airways has officially confirmed the cancellation of its scheduled flight from New York to Nairobi, citing severe weather conditions that disrupted operations at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

In an advisory issued on Sunday, July 19, the airline explained that flight KQ003, originally set to depart on Saturday, July 18, was called off due to adverse weather affecting airport activities.

The airline further stated that the flight will only be reinstated once weather patterns normalize and all necessary safety checks, regulatory requirements, and air traffic control approvals are secured.

Passengers have been assured that they will receive timely updates as the situation evolves.

Kenya Airways expressed regret over the disruption, offering apologies to travelers for the inconvenience while thanking them for their patience and cooperation during the unforeseen delay.

The cancellation comes as parts of the northeastern United States experienced a bout of turbulent weather over the weekend, with heavy rainfall and strong winds forcing multiple airlines to adjust their schedules.

JFK Airport, one of the busiest international gateways in the country, saw a number of flight delays and cancellations as ground crews worked to maintain safe operations under challenging conditions.

For passengers booked on the affected flight, Kenya Airways has arranged rebooking options and is working closely with ground handling teams at JFK to facilitate alternative travel arrangements.

Affected guests have been encouraged to reach out to the airline’s customer service desks or visit the official website for real-time updates regarding their itineraries.

The national carrier also took the opportunity to reassure the traveling public that its commitment to safety remains unwavering, even when such decisions result in operational setbacks.

While the disruption is undoubtedly inconvenient for those with urgent travel needs, the airline maintains that no compromise on safety protocols will be tolerated, regardless of scheduling pressures or commercial considerations.
