KeNHA Introduces New System to Address Rironi–Mau Summit Complaints

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has unveiled a new system to address complaints arising from the construction of the Rironi-Mau Summit Highway project.

KeNHA, in collaboration with the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Directorate and the China Roads and Bridges Corporation (CRBC), launched the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) to address grievances that may arise from members of the public and other stakeholders along the highway.

In a statement on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, the authority said the system is specifically for the Rironi-Gilgil section of the project.

“The Environmental and Social Safeguards (ESS) team, led by Lucy Wainaina, in collaboration with the PPP Directorate and CRBC, recently launched the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) for the Rironi-Mau Summit Road (Rironi-Gilgil Section),” KeNHA stated.

The GRM committee will consist of representatives from KeNHA, National Land Commission (NLC), National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and the Ministry of Labour.

Other stakeholders involved include Kenya Power, Children’s Services and Project-Affected Persons (PAPs), among other stakeholders.

According to KeNHA, GRM committees, will provide proper channels for receiving, addressing and resolving grievances related to the Ksh200 billion road project.
