The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination has kicked off nationwide, with candidates across the country set to sit for their final tests.
The 2025 cohort will begin the national assessment with oral examinations in foreign and sign languages, including German, French, Arabic, and Kenyan Sign Language.
These will be followed by practical examinations scheduled to take place from October 22 to October 31.

According to the official timetable, candidates will then sit for their written papers from Tuesday, November 4, to Friday, November 21, 2025.
The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) will follow the KCSE examinations and will be administered concurrently from October 27 to October 29.
Rehearsals for both assessments are scheduled for October 24.
Earlier, Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) Chief Executive Officer David Njengere announced that 996,078 candidates had registered for this year’s KCSE examination.
Njengere moreover added that 1,130,669 learners registered as pioneers of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system to sit for KJSEA, while 1,298,089 candidates registered to sit for KPSEA.
