Kajiado County Assembly Minority Leader Simon Mumeita Saitoti has been confirmed dead.
Kajiado County Assembly Speaker Justus Ngossor confirmed his death in a statement, noting that the House would help with the burial arrangements.
“The County Assembly fraternity has lost a gallant soldier, a leader, a friend and a colleague. We hereby convey our deepest condolences to his family and friends. We urge the leadership and residents of Purko Ward and our great county to come together to condole with the family during this painful time,” he stated.
The Purko ward MP died at Karen Hospital in Nairobi, where he had been undergoing treatment following a minor surgery.
He was reported to have checked into the facility on February 26 2025, where the surgical procedure was conducted on him.
Mumeita was later transferred to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after the procedure, where he remained until his passing.
The deceased was elected into the 3rd County Assembly in 2022 to represent Purko Ward in Kajiado Central Constituency.
He subsequently was elected as Kajiado County Assembly’s Minority Whip.
