Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi has parted ways with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s camp.
Speaking on Wednesday, January 14, Koimburi accused Gachagua of betraying him despite his long-standing support, including standing by him after he was impeached from office.
He highlighted that his loyalty involved personal risks, including legal challenges and detention.

The Juja lawmaker further alleged that Gachagua was influenced by an opponent to secure the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) ticket for the Juja parliamentary seat in the 2027 general election.
Koimburi stressed that he cannot align with a political party that accepts money from aspirants seeking to contest for office.
The MP indicated that he will now engage directly with the State House to lobby for development projects in the Juja constituency, including improving roads and other infrastructure.
He also suggested that he will guide his constituents’ voting decisions in the 2027 elections based on his political alignment at the time.
This development comes shortly after Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba accused Rigathi Gachagua of using threats and insults to pressure her into joining the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).
In a statement released on January 5, Wamuchomba noted that similar tactics had been used against her during Gachagua’s tenure as Deputy President, particularly when she opposed the Finance Bill 2023.
She confirmed that she has no intention of defecting and will remain in UDA through the next general election.
