Police in Kolowa, Baringo County, have received three firearms which were voluntarily surrendered by members of the public.
According to a report by the National Police Service (NPS), the firearms, AK-47 rifles, complete with magazines and eight rounds of ammunition were handed over to the sub-county security team through the cooperation of local peace structures in Kipnai Location.
In their statement NPS noted that the recovered rifles and ammunition have since been secured for safe custody.

This latest surrender contributes to the ongoing disarmament and peacebuilding efforts aimed at restoring lasting security in the Kerio Valley region.
The National Police Service praised the ongoing collaboration of the public, local elders, and peace committees, urging continued support through information sharing and the voluntary surrender of illegal firearms to strengthen peace efforts.
Notably this comes days after 232 firearms and 1595 rounds of ammunition were surrendered by residents so far in Kerio Valley.
In a statement issued on Friday, September 25 by NPS, the surrendered weapons were all acquired illegally by the local residents.
Moreover, police confirmed that on September 24, residents of Tot surrendered 27 illegal firearms, among them AK-47 and G3 rifles, at the Tot Police Station.
