Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah has revealed that he remained in contact with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua even after his impeachment, disclosing that the two spoke over a personal matter.
Speaking in a recent interview, Ichung’wah disclosed that Gachagua reached out to him through an intermediary while facing a private challenge.
According to the National Assembly Majority Leader, the former deputy president had initially sought to communicate with William Ruto, but the mutual contact declined and instead relayed the request to him.

“I have spoken to Gachagua even after impeachment. There was a time he had a problem and reached out through a friend. He wanted to reach out to the President, but the friend said he would not go to the President, and he came to me,” Ichung’wah said.
The revelation comes amid heightened political tensions in Kiambu County, weeks after Gachagua’s rally in Kikuyu town was disrupted.
Police officers dispersed the gathering using teargas, forcing the event to end prematurely and sparking sharp reactions from the former deputy president.
In the aftermath, Gachagua accused President Ruto and Ichung’wah of orchestrating the disruption, describing them as “political cowards” and alleging the use of state machinery to intimidate his supporters.
He maintained that such actions would not deter his political ambitions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Neither Ichung’wah nor the President has publicly responded to the specific allegations regarding the rally disruption.
