Homa Bay Deputy Governor Oyugi Magwanga has taken Governor Gladys Wanga to court, accusing her of interfering with the execution of his official duties.
Speaking on Wednesday, February 4, Magwanga revealed that he had filed a petition at the Employment and Labour Relations Court, seeking orders to have his office reopened after it was allegedly locked.
He is also asking the court to compel the county administration to reinstate the official vehicles assigned to him, arguing that the actions taken against him are unconstitutional.

In his petition, the Deputy Governor is seeking general damages for the alleged violation of his constitutional rights, as well as legal costs and any other remedies the court may consider appropriate.
Magwanga further claimed that Governor Wanga’s actions have effectively sidelined him from his responsibilities, leaving him without meaningful work while still drawing a salary, which he argues amounts to a misuse of public resources.
Magwanga appealed to Governor Wanga to reconsider her actions rather than wait for the court to determine the matter.
He argued that the situation was unfair to the residents of Homa Bay, noting that he continues to receive a salary despite being unable to effectively carry out his duties.
The Deputy Governor also launched sharp criticism against the ODM Chair, accusing her of failing to deliver meaningful development for the people of Homa Bay County.
He claimed that Wanga was taking credit for projects initiated under the broad-based national government, presenting them as part of her own achievements.
Magwanga further questioned the county’s financial management, alleging that the governor had not adequately accounted for the Ksh48 billion allocated to the county.
He went on to declare his intention to challenge Wanga for the Homa Bay gubernatorial seat in the 2027 elections.
