The High Court has extended the orders barring the arrest or prosecution of Thika Chief Magistrate Stella Atambo.
The ruling was delivered by Justice Chacha Mwita after a matter came up for the hearing of an application by the Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association (KMJA) seeking to join the case.
The court allowed KMJA’s application as an interested party in the petition.
KMJA has argued that the case raises constitutional and unconstitutional concerns affecting the independence of the judiciary and the safety of its members.

Justice Mwita further directed that Atambo respond to an application filed by the EACC within 14 days of after which the respondents and the interested parties will each have 14 days to file their written submissions.
The petitioner will then have an additional 14 days to file a rejoinder.
The case has been scheduled for October 7, 2025.
