Haiti Peacekeeping Officers Receive National Recognition at Jamhuri Day

Kenyan police officers from the Peace Keeping Mission in Haiti were recognised as heroes during the national Jamhuri Day celebrations held at the Nyayo Stadium on Friday, December 12, 2025.

The officers were the first cohort of the Kenyan police officers under the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti.

The officers arrived back in the country on December 9, 2025, from Haiti after serving in Haiti for 18 months.

Apart from them, three officers who lost their lives during the mission to suppress the Haitian gangs were also celebrated posthumously as heroes.

During the Jamuhuri Day celebrations, the officers were cheered by the jubilant crowd at Kasarani as they marched across the stadium.

The officers marched with three flags: the green police flag, the Kenya Police Service flag, and the Administration Police Service flag.

They then received a standing ovation from President William Ruto and Kenyans for their brave service in Haiti.
