Grace Njoki released on Ksh.10k Cash Bail Amid Uncertainty Over Charges

Grace Njoki Mulei has been released on ksh.10,000 cash bail.

She was among those arrested for storming the Health Cabinet Secretary Deborah Barasa’s press briefing at Afya House.

The arrest took place at Ladnan Hospital in Nairobi at night while she was seeking medical services.

The statement about her arrest was released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Thursday 23rd January 2025 at night.

The statement read that Grace Njoki (Suspect) was arrested following reports of disturbance at the Ministry of Health Boardroom at the Capital Hill Police Station.

The suspect, Grace Njoki Mulei, was tracked down to Hombe Road, off Juja Road, and successfully apprehended. She has been taken to Capital Hill Police Station, where she will remain in custody until her court appearance scheduled for tomorrow.

The DCI added.

When asked about the ordeal, Grace narrated that they arrested her without telling her where they were taking her.

I asked them why they were arresting me and where they were taking me but they refused to tell me. They told me they were not arresting me.

Njoki said.

I was carried away by force out of the hospital where I had gone to receive treatment. I was dragged, pinched and bullied. Although they never told me the reason for the arrest. They insisted that I should write a statement but they had not told me anything. Although through that time I felt threatened I suffered from heart attack.

Njoki added.
