The High court has cleared the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners panel list for submission to President William Ruto to be appointed.
A petition was filed in 2024 by Bonface Njogu who raised concerns about the adherence to constitutional requirements in respect to the inclusion of PWDs in elective and appointive bodies.
The ruling was made by Justice Dola Chepkwony who dismissed he claims that the list lacked inclusivity regarding the addition of Persons Living with Disability (PWDs).

The ruling delivered cited that there was insufficient evidence to prove that PWDs were excluded or the panel failed to meet gender and regional balance requirements.
Justice Chepkwony also rejected petition challenging Azimio la Umoja’s nomination process stating that the commission failed to conduct a competitive and open recruitment exercise could not be sustained.
The ruling will pave way to the appointment of the IEBC panel which will oversee the selection of the new IEBC commissioners.
The IEBC selection panel will compose of nine nominees from five bodies.
The five bodies will be the Political Parties Liason Committee, the Inter-religious Council, the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya, the Law Society of Kenya and the Parliamentary Service Commission.
