Gor Mahia Dominate Mara Sugar with a 4-0 Victory

Gor Mahia dominated Mara Sugar with a 4-0 victory at Dandora Stadium, narrowing the gap to just two points behind league leaders Kenya Police FC.

The Gor fans can take pride in the team’s strong performance, which keeps their league title hopes alive as the season heads into its final rounds. This win comes after a disappointing loss to FC Talanta in their previous match, marking the first defeat under coach Sinisa Mihic’s tenure.

Having served his two-game suspension, Mihic returned to the Gor touchline and made several changes to the starting lineup, resulting in one of the team’s best performances since his arrival in February.

One of the most surprising decisions was benching influential midfielder Austine Odhiambo, reportedly due to a disagreement leading up to the match. Instead, Mihic assigned the playmaking role to Ben Stanley Omondi, while veteran midfielder Ernest Wendo, captain Philemon Otieno, and Congolese striker Gedeon Bendeka also received rare starting opportunities.

Gor Mahia took only ten minutes to break the deadlock, with Shariff Musa using his pace to finish a through ball from midfielder Enoch Morrison.

In the 27th minute, Morrison turned provider into goalscorer, using his weaker foot to score from long range against Mara goalkeeper Evans Omondi. However, Morrison, who had an outstanding performance, will regret receiving a yellow card in the second half, as it was his fifth booking, meaning he will miss the next game.

Gedeon Bendeka added a third goal ten minutes after halftime, and substitute Alpha Onyango capped off the scoring in the 90+1st minute.

After the fourth goal, Gor Mahia displayed fine passing and coordination that made it look like a training session, further humiliating their opponents.
