Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a woman in Mombasa for allegedly staging a fake robbery targeting her British lover.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, November 11, the suspect identified as Samira Mumbi Kiarie had spent months wooing the Briton online before luring him to her Nyali apartment for what appeared to be a romantic date.
Moments after the date began, two men reportedly stormed into the apartment, one claiming to be Samira’s enraged husband and the other brandishing a fake police ID.

According to DCI, the alleged husband of Samira accused the British of wrecking his home while the fake police officer threatened to arrest him.
The foreigner was then coerced into transferring Ksh800,000 to mobile phone numbers provided by the gang.
Detectives arrested Samira Mumbi Kiarie and her accomplice Paul Webster Mangeni, alias Paulo, after forensic leads linked them to the fake robbery.
DCI reports indicate the duo is part of a syndicate that targets foreigners through dating sites, luring them to Airbnbs before robbing them.
Both are in custody pending arraignment, while a third suspect remains at large.
The case mirrors a recent incident in which Okello Oyugi, who posed online as Jeremiah John, robbed a Greek tourist of Ksh3.7 million during a trip to the Maasai Mara.
Oyugi was later arrested, and detectives recovered cash, phones, and a wristwatch.
