The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Leader Rigathi Gachagua has asked First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto to deliver a message to President William Ruto over his alleged disregard for the church.
Speaking in the USA on Sunday, September 14, Gachagua told Mama Rachel to stop the persecution of Christians in the church.
He stated that political battles should not be held in churches, where Kenyans should ideally feel safe.

Gachagua expressed trust that the First Lady would talk to her husband and give an assurance to the people of Kenya that the church is a place where people run to when they are in trouble, and that they will never again be attacked inside a church.
He stated that even during former President the late Daniel Moi’s controversial reign, the sanctity of the church was respected.
He noted that even when police were after someone who ran into a church, they did not touch them and would instead wait outside.
The former Deputy President asked the First Lady to urge her husband to assure Kenyans that there would not be a repeat of what happened in 2007, when victims of the post-election violence were torched in a church.
He further asked Mama Rachel to mount pressure on President Ruto to allow the police to prosecute the people involved in the Witima Church attack.
Gachagua claimed that the people involved are known and the file is ready, but accused President Ruto of refusing to prosecute them because he allegedly sent them.
The remarks came after Mama Rachel Ruto opened a newly constructed church in Kiambaa, Uasin Gishu County.
The new church, Christian Life Assembly, replaced the KAG Kiambaa Church, which was burnt during the 2007/2008 post-election violence.
