Former Deputy President and Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has praised Mumias East MP Peter Salasya, describing him as a promising young leader with the potential to shape Kenya’s future leadership.
In a statement shared after a meeting at his Wamunyoro residence, Gachagua noted that he was delighted to host the first-term legislator, noting that their discussions formed part of his ongoing political consultations.
The former Deputy President described Salasya as a steadfast and principled leader with a clear vision for the country, adding that Kenya must intentionally nurture young leaders capable of taking up national leadership roles.

According to Gachagua, investing in the country’s youthful leadership is essential to securing Kenya’s future, arguing that young leaders should be mentored and equipped to lead with integrity and purpose.
He further commended the Mumias East lawmaker for his communication skills, saying his blend of wisdom, humour and wit has made him stand out in the country’s political landscape.
Gachagua said his conversation with Salasya left him encouraged and optimistic about the future of Kenya’s leadership, adding that the MP’s ideas and outlook had greatly impressed him.
The DCP leader also emphasized that Kenya’s greatest asset is its young and productive population, stressing the need to create opportunities that give young people hope through improved leadership and a stronger economy.
He concluded by stating that his political consultations with leaders from across the country are continuing, amid growing speculation over possible political realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election.
