Former Deputy President and DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua has congratulated Sammy Kamau Ngotho after he secured the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) ticket for the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election.
In a statement issued on Sunday, May 10, Gachagua said Ngotho’s win in the party primaries reflected the strength of internal democracy within DCP and its commitment to a fair nomination process.
He noted that the exercise, in which Ngotho garnered 12,957 votes, demonstrated that the party remains open and responsive to the will of its members.

Gachagua wished Ngotho success ahead of the Ol Kalou by-election scheduled for July 16, 2026, expressing confidence in his ability to represent the party in the contest.
The DCP party leader expressed appreciation to Ol Kalou residents for turning out in large numbers during the party primaries.
He also commended the aspirants who were unsuccessful in the nominations for accepting the outcome and pledging to support the party’s chosen candidate.
Gachagua encouraged them to remain active within the party and play a key role in mobilising support for the nominee, noting that their participation remained valuable to the party’s strength.
He further praised the DCP National Elections Board, polling officials, and the party secretariat for overseeing a transparent process, and also lauded police officers in Nyandarua County for ensuring peace and order during the exercise.
Sammy Kamau Ngotho clinched the DCP ticket for the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election after securing 12,957 votes in the party primaries held on Saturday. He was followed by Paul Waiganjo, who managed 4,978 votes.
Ngotho, who previously contested the seat in 2022 on a UDA ticket and finished second, will now make another bid for the constituency.
In the upcoming race, he will face UDA nominee Samuel Muchina Nyagah, who won the party nominations on May 8 with 3,221 votes, narrowly edging out George Wambugu Kanuri.
The Ol Kalou parliamentary seat became vacant following the death of area MP David Njuguna Kiaraho on March 29.
