Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and former President Uhuru Kenyatta were on Wednesday, April 1, seen together in Kirinyaga County, attracting public attention as they interacted warmly.
The two leaders had attended the burial of former Senator Daniel Karaba, joining other political figures and mourners in paying their final respects.
The ceremony drew a cross-section of leaders from different political camps, among them Siaya Senator James Orengo and PLP Party leader Martha Karua.

At one point during the event, Gachagua and Uhuru were seen in a relaxed conversation, appearing at ease in each other’s company.
Photos from the occasion captured the two sharing light moments and laughter, signaling a cordial interaction despite their previous political differences.
This development comes just over a month after DCP Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala alleged that Uhuru Kenyatta and Rigathi Gachagua were collaborating behind the scenes.
Speaking on Tuesday, February 3, Malala claimed the two leaders had established a working relationship away from the public eye.
He tied the alleged cooperation to recent changes within the Jubilee Party, where Jeremiah Kioni was removed as Secretary General and replaced by Moitalel Ole Kenta.
Malala further claimed that the reported cooperation between the two leaders is aimed at safeguarding Kenyans from the current administration.
Days later, Rigathi Gachagua vowed to defend Uhuru Kenyatta against alleged intimidation.
Speaking at a press briefing on February 10, Gachagua accused President William Ruto’s administration of attempting to silence the former Head of State, claiming that junior leaders were being used to threaten him with the withdrawal of his retirement benefits.
He insisted he would not allow Uhuru to be bullied, describing him as a respected statesman who deserves dignity and freedom to engage in politics without interference.
