Mount Kenya University has granted Duncan Kibet, the 27-year-old from Bomet whose 250-kilometre trek to Nairobi touched Kenyans nationwide.
Kibet’s had undertook a four-day trek from Bomet to Nairobi, last month in a desperate bid to raise school fees and draw attention to his dream of joining university.
This touched many Kenyans and as a result, Mount Kenya University offered education to the determined 27-year-old.
In a statement on Monday, February 9, 2026, MKU revealed that the granted Kibet admission to pursue a Bachelor of Education degree.
MKU also confirmed it would accommodate Kibet in its hostels as he completes his registration process.
