Prominent Kenyan Ohangla musician Freddy Nyandiko, popularly known as Freddy Jakadongo, has officially announced his decision to step away from the music industry.

In a heartfelt message on his official social media account on Monday, April 6, 2026, Jakadongo revealed that the decision came after deep personal reflection.

The musician described his time in music as nothing short of incredible, expressing profound gratitude to fans and supporters who stood by him and the band through every high and low.

“After much reflection, I have made the difficult decision to step away from music,” Jakadongo said.

“This journey has been nothing short of incredible, and I’m deeply grateful to every single one of you who stood with me, believed in the sound, and supported the band through all the highs and lows over the years”, he added.

While addressing his fans, Jakadongo acknowledged the vital role they have played in his career.

He also credited their love, energy, and loyalty for giving his music life beyond the stage, emphasising that their support would never be taken for granted.

“To the fans, your love, energy, and loyalty meant everything. You gave the music life beyond the stage, and I will never take that for granted”.

Jakadongo further extended appreciation to everyone who was part of his journey, noting the shared memories and moments that defined his time in the industry.

According to Jakadongo, it was an honour to walk that path alongside his band and supporters.

“To everyone who walked this path with Freddy Jakadongo and the band, thank you for the memories, the moments, and the unwavering support. It’s been an honour sharing this journey with you,” Jakadongo stated.
