Fred Machokaa Criticises Plans to Bury Leonard Mambo Mbotela at Lang’ata Cemetery

Veteran journalist Fred Obachi Machokaa has criticised plans to bury legendary broadcaster Leonard Mambo Mbotela at Lang’ata Cemetery. 

Sharing on his socials, Machokaa noted that it was disrespectful to Mbotela’s immense contribution to Kenya.

He went on to call for a more dignified send-off for the late Mbotela.

“Today I am angry. Very, very angry! To inter the remains of Legend Mambo Mbotela in Lang’ata Cemetery is wrong. Mr president, umeskia? This country requires a Heroes Corner for the burial of our Mashujaa if we really value them.” 

On February 9 reports emerged that Mbotela will be laid to rest at Lang’ata Cemetery on February 15.

Veteran broadcaster Leonard Mambo Mbotela passed away on Friday 7th February 2025.

Reports indicated that Mbotela had been sickly and was being treated at a city hospital.

The Veteran broadcaster passed away aged 85.

The deceased is known for his popular TV show ‘Jee huu ni Ungwana’.
