Former CS Owalo Launches Party, Signals 2027 Ambitions

Former Information Communication Technology and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary( CS) Eliud Owalo has launched a new political party, eyeing the presidency in the 2027 general elections.

The new party, the People Prosperity Party (PPP), was officially launched on Wednesday, July 8, in Nairobi.

According to the former CS, the party would provide a platform focused on advancing national development, economic empowerment, and improving the welfare of Kenyans.

Owalo also revealed that if elected, his administration would focus on what he described as the “third liberation” of Kenya, centred on economic empowerment and prosperity for citizens.

“With that mandate, we shall begin the great work of the 3rd liberation of this country. An economic liberation to deliver prosperity for all. I’m seeking presidency precisely to break from Kenya’s business as usual career politics. With Eliud Owalo as the CEO of Kenya, it will not be business as usual,” Owalo said.

Additionally, Owalo has promised that if elected, he will reduce various taxes and levies to provide relief to Kenyans, whom he said have been burdened by the current administration.

He has further vowed to lower the income tax rate from 35 pr cent to 20 percent, reducing the value-added tax ( VAT ) from 16 percent to 10 percent and also reducing the housing levy from 1.5 per cent to 0.5 per cent.
