The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has issued multiple fines to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) following breaches that occurred during the recent match between Kenya and Angola at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.
Among the penalties, FKF has been slapped with a Ksh 1 million fine for allowing fans into the stadium without valid tickets.
This violation compromises stadium security and goes against CAF regulations aimed at ensuring safe and controlled access to match venues.

Additionally, the federation was fined Ksh 650,000 due to mismanagement of the VIP and VVIP sections during the event.
Reports indicate that the handling of these areas was disorderly, affecting the experience of distinguished guests and officials, and breaching CAF’s operational standards for hosting international matches.
Another fine of Ksh 130,000 was imposed after fans were found lighting flares in the stands, an act that poses significant safety risks to both spectators and players.
The use of flares inside stadiums is strictly prohibited by CAF, given their potential to cause injuries or disrupt the game.
Furthermore, FKF is required to settle a previously suspended fine of Ksh 325,000, which relates to offenses committed during Kenya’s match against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
This outstanding fine was reactivated in light of the recent infractions.
The cumulative fines reflect CAF’s strict stance on maintaining order, safety, and professionalism during football matches across the continent.
FKF has been urged to enhance its event management protocols to avoid future penalties and uphold the integrity of Kenyan football on the international stage.
