Finland’s President Alexander Stubb Arrives in Kenya 

Finland President Alexander Stubb and his wife, Suzanne Innes-Stubb on Monday May 12 arrived in Kenya for a three-day state visit.

The two were welcomed by DP Kithure Kindiki and Education CS Julius Ogamba at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

“On behalf of His Excellency Dr. William Samoei Ruto, received His Excellency Alexander Stubb, the President of the Republic of Finland, together with his spouse, on arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for a State Visit to Kenya,” Kindiki wrote on his X account.

The state visit aims to celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations between Finland and Kenya.

President Alexander is set to hold bilateral talks with President Ruto, with the discussions focusing on global challenges and their impact in Africa and Europe, and cooperation in support of the multilateral system.

After the talks, a wreath-laying ceremony will be held at Uhuru Gardens.

On Monday evening, President Stubb and his spouse will be hosted by President Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto at a state banquet.

Moreover during the visit, Stubb is scheduled to meet representatives of local NGOs and foreign policy experts and the main topics of discussion being regional dynamics and social development.

He will also visit the University of Nairobi, where he will give a speech on geopolitics and the transformation of the multilateral order, followed by a discussion with students.

He is also expected to attend the closing event of the EU-Kenya Business Forum.

Stubb will furthermore visit Kawangware, where he is expected to learn about a programme funded by the EU and Finnfund to enhance digital connectivity.
