DCI Uncovers Details of Athi River Business Robbery

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has nabbed three suspects in robbing a company based in Athi River.

In a statement on May 12, 2025, the DCI revealed that the suspects were arrested following an investigation launched immediately after the incident.

According to DCI, the three have been among a gang of five who raided the company armed with crude weapons and rounded up workers, assaulted them and held them hostage.

During the incident, the workers were left damaged as the robbers took off with several appliances.

The armed robbers stole appliances like a fridge, a microwave, two lorry batteries, two backloader tractor batteries and a generator which they loaded into a pickup and escaped.

Upon investigations, forensic clues led Athi River detectives to the ringleader’s rented house in Kamulu.

The arrest led to the detectives recovering a Beretta pistol, a pocket phone, beige and green tactical trousers, six assorted SIM cards among other incriminating items.

The suspect, therefore, led detectives to Gimu in Athi-River, where they arrested two other suspects.

The three are currently in police custody awaiting arraignment in court.

As investigations continue, the police have launched manhunt for the remaining two suspects.
