A memorial service has also been scheduled for May 13 at CITAM Valley Road beginning at 10:00am, as part of preparations for the final rites.

The family further announced that the cortege will depart from Lee Funeral Home on May 14.

His body will be transported to Mumias, where he will be laid to rest at the family home in Musanda village on Friday, May 15, 2026.

Obwaka passed away on Friday, May 1, after collapsing at a residence in Milimani, Kitengela.

A postmortem conducted on Tuesday, May 5, confirmed that the Nairobi Hospital director, Dr. Job Obwaka, died of cardiac arrest.

Family spokesperson Joseph Ndungu said the autopsy findings established the cause of death, noting that additional examinations may still be undertaken as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding his passing.

Court documents presented in the Kibra High Court detail the final movements of Nairobi Hospital director Dr. Job Obwaka on the day he died.

He is said to have driven from Nairobi to Kitengela before being picked up at OBC Mall by Beatrice Wangari, who later drove him to her Milimani residence.

The court heard that the two shared a meal before Obwaka retired to rest, where he later collapsed.

Emergency responders who arrived at the scene attempted resuscitation before rushing him to The Nairobi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Following the incident, Wangari was arrested, with detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations conducting a search of her home.

She was later remanded after the court granted investigators 10 days to continue holding her as inquiries proceed.
