Emakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino on Wednesday, May 6, presented his bodyguard, Oliver Ochieng’, at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters along Kiambu Road.
Ochieng’, who had previously been arrested by detectives in 2024 over an alleged murder case, was escorted to the DCI offices to respond to fresh allegations brought against him.
The MP claimed that investigators were seeking to link his bodyguard to the killing of a GSU officer in Kisumu, despite maintaining that he had no involvement in the incident.

Owino further alleged that there were attempts to fabricate evidence against Ochieng’, as he pushed for clarity on the exact charges his bodyguard is facing.
Babu alleged that a team of DCI officers from the headquarters, travelling in six Subaru vehicles, had been deployed to Kisumu to track down and arrest his bodyguard, Oliver Ochieng’.
The lawmaker further claimed that Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo was targeting Ochieng’ following his refusal to cooperate with him, alleging that the bodyguard had declined overtures linked to support arrangements.
Owino went on to accuse DCI of being used to undermine the Linda Mwananchi faction in Kisumu, questioning why officers from Kiambu Road were involved despite the presence of a local DCI unit in the region.
He also linked Deputy DCI Director John Onyango to the alleged operations, while claiming the actions were being carried out without the knowledge of DCI boss Amin Mohamed, even as detectives continue a wider crackdown on criminal gangs in Western Kenya.
