Faith Mboya Nets Four as Kibera Beat Bungoma 4-1 in the KWPL

Faith Mboya stars as she hurls goals for Kibera Soccer Women FC as they defeat Bungoma Queens 4:1 at Don Bosco Grounds in the Kenya Women’s Premier League.

Kibera Soccer Women FC win against Bungoma Queens as two of their mid-season signings make their debut both for the club as well as the women’s top-tier league. Kibera Soccer Women FC, well known for their TikiTaka style of play, have been struggling to convert the many chances they create into goals.

Their mid-season transfer targets landed them in the Women’s National Super League. They opted for an additional midfielder as well as a goal poacher to net in goals for them. Midfield dynamite Medina Abubakar joined from Uweza Academy as netbuster Faith Mboya joined from Sunderland Samba FC.

Medina has made a top-up to the Kibera-based side’s rich midfield, adding to the fancy combination of Yvonne Kavere, Robi Maximillah, Cynthia Atieno and Elizabeth Akinyi. Faith, on the other hand, still leads the top scorers chart in the Women’s National Super League, having scored 18 goals in the first leg of the league.

They both made their debut for Kibera as well as in the Women’s Premier League as they started in the second league encounter against Bungoma Queens. Their impact was immediately felt as Medina partnered well in the midfield. Faith Mboya, on the other hand, needed only 18 minutes to strike a hat trick.

The netbuster needed no introduction as she netted her first goal in the 3rd minute from a solo effort and the second and third goals in the 15th and 18th minutes, respectively. She again netted the fourth goal at the 45th minute just before the break to ensure workdone and the game dead.

Back from the break Bungoma seemed to have really needed it as they came back stronger. They also played in an organised way that helped them prevent more damage. They also made several attacks on Kibera that finally bore fruit in the 79th minute.

Bungoma Queens striker Catherine Khaemba was fouled in the box by Mary Majeso, resulting in a penalty that Bungoma Queens converted to a goal.

Kibera Soccer Women FC remain second on the log with Kenya Police Bullets FC ahead with only a 2 goals difference.
