The Music Copyright of Kenya CEO, Ezekiel Mutua, has threatened to sue Nation Media Group (NMG) over a fake publication.
In a statement on Saturday, May 10, 2025, the CEO stated that he would sue the media house for ignorance.
According to Mutua, the media house ignored a demand letter from his lawyers, which sought an apology over a misleading publication announcing his firing.
He alleged that the Daily Nation published a fake notice purporting that he was fired despite initially informing the media outlet that the information was false.
The MCSK boss stated that he had learnt about plans for the fake publication the previous evening after he had detected unauthorised withdrawals from the organisation’s bank account, including a payment to the media house.
According to Mutua, despite informing the media outlet of the fraudulent notice, he was shocked to receive several notifications from Kenyans who told him about the fake trending notice.
His statement comes a day after MCSK dismissed allegations claiming that its CEO was fired, dismissing Daily Nation’s publication and terming it as baseless.
