A Peruvian court has sentenced former President Ollanta Humala and his wife, Nadine Heredia, to 15 years in prison in a graft case.
The verdict comes after three long years.
Humala had attended the verdict in person while his wife heard it via video link.
The court found the two guilty of money laundering for receiving illegal contributions from Odebrecht and the Venezuelan government in two presidential campaigns in 2006 and 2011.

The prosecutors had asked for Humala to be sentenced to 20 years in prison and Heredia to 26 and a half years.
Humala was taken into custody right after the verdict and later jailed at a police base while the court ordered the arrest of his wife.
Despite the verdict, the pair have consistently denied all charges.
Humala’s legal team, on the other hand, said that they would appeal the sentence.
