Ex-Gov’t Employee Held for Forged Documents

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have recently arrested and arraigned a former government employee accused of securing a job using forged academic documents.

In a statement, the EACC noted that the suspect, identified as Liza Amara Anyoso, formerly worked as a Registry Clerk at the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC).

The EACC went on to reveal that Anyoso had presented a falsified Bachelor of Commerce degree certificate, purportedly from the University of Nairobi, to obtain her position at the city water company.

The fraudulent act allowed her to draw salaries totaling Ksh7.8 million over her period of service.

Following the completion of its investigation, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) handed over the case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for review.

After examining the evidence, prosecutors approved several charges against the suspect, identified as Anyoso.

These charges include forgery, uttering a false document, and deceiving a principal—serious offences under Kenya’s Penal Code and the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act.

EACC moverover confirmed that Anyoso was apprehended, processed in accordance with procedure, and later arraigned before court to face the charges.

After entering her plea, Anyoso was granted bail by the court pending further proceedings in the case.
