Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has returned to full training after recovering from an ankle injury. The 24-year-old Norwegian sustained the injury during the FA Cup quarter-final victory against Bournemouth on March 30.
While he has been following an individual training program during his recovery, Haaland joined the first-team group for training on Wednesday. This season, he has scored an impressive 39 goals for both club and country.
Although it is unclear when he will return to competitive action, manager Pep Guardiola is expected to provide an update during his press conference on Thursday, ahead of Friday’s Premier League match against Wolverhampton.
Additionally, 28-year-old midfielder Rodri has also been training with the first team after being sidelined since September due to a serious knee injury. The 2024 Ballon d’Or winner has not played since last year after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
Rodri was seen working on an individual training program at City’s Etihad Campus at the end of February. Sources suggest that a realistic timeframe for his return to competitive play may be during the Club World Cup in June, rather than in the remaining four Premier League games or the FA Cup final.
Guardiola commented last week, “Every training session he [Rodri] does with us goes well. Rodri wants to play, but the doctor will need to give the green light for him to participate.”
Currently, Manchester City sits fourth in the Premier League and has lost their title to new champions Liverpool, after winning it for four consecutive seasons. They will host Wolverhampton on Friday at 20:00 BST, and later face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final at Wembley on May 17.
