Barcelona came from behind twice against Inter Milan to secure a thrilling 3-3 draw in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final, leaving the match delicately poised.
Inter stunned the home crowd just 30 seconds into the game when Marcus Thuram scored the fastest goal in the competition’s last-four history, turning in Denzel Dumfries’ low cross with an audacious backheel flick.
Dutch full-back Dumfries doubled Inter’s lead with a stunning acrobatic volley 20 minutes later, putting Barcelona in a challenging position at the Montjuic Olympic Stadium.
However, the remarkable Lamine Yamal quickly turned the tide. He struck back in the 24th minute with a brilliant effort, drifting inside and weaving past several defenders before unleashing a sumptuous left-foot shot that hit the post and found the net.
Yamal was integral to Barcelona’s play throughout the match, hitting the woodwork twice and marking his 100th appearance for the club with his 22nd goal, adding to his impressive tally of 33 assists at just 17 years old.
Ferran Torres brought the hosts level in the 38th minute, scoring from close range after Raphinha headed down a cross from Pedri.
Inter regained their lead in the 63rd minute when Dumfries scored his second goal, heading in from a corner delivered by Hakan Calhanoglu.
Yet, Barcelona responded again just two minutes later. Raphinha struck a stunning 25-yard shot that hit the bar and bounced down into the net, taking a slight touch off Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer’s back.
This exhilarating contest leaves the tie finely balanced, with the second leg scheduled for Tuesday at the San Siro in Milan.
