Two pupils and an adult were shot dead in a banditry attack in Elgeyo Marakwet.
The incident occurred on March 3 2025, at night.
Reports indicated that the incident was a retaliatory attack after armed bandits ambushed herders along the Kerio Valley and killed a 17-year-old boy.
The local officials said that the boy was shot on Monday 3 2025, in the afternoon.

The attackers struck the herders as they were taking their cattle to the river for water, as bullets were sprayed indiscriminately.
The assailants, suspected to be from Elegeyo Marakwet, seized the cattle and drove them towards Marakwet West.
A second attack occurred later in the evening.
The police are yet to confirm any arrest or the recovery of the stolen cattle.
Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wesley Rotich condemned the incidents on Tuesday, 4, 2025, in the morning, saying they are reversing gains made to bring peace to the region.
“The few reckless criminals have reversed our main gains, but we won’t relent until we find lasting peace. Those criminals want everyone to give up on this war, but we are not stopping until we have women and children living in a safe space,” Rotich said.
“To our communities Pokot and Marakwet, I request you to please flush out these few criminals in our midst, lynch them or hand them over to the authorities. Let’s make criminals’ lives unbearable. We can’t suffer because of few, people”, he added.
