Kenyan script writer and comedian Eddie Butita has shared his humorous take on the ongoing conversation around paternity tests.
According to him, he argued that some traditional Luhya practices can reveal whether a child belongs to a man without the need for a hospital DNA test.
The comediannmade the remarks while reacting to the recent case involving content creator Ciggie Johnson, who discovered through a DNA test that the child he had raised for 12 years was not his biological child.
In a recording shared on Saturday, October 3, 2026, Ciggie was heard speaking to the child’s mother after she informed him that the DNA results were negative.

In response to the matter, he referred to a traditional practice involving a newborn child being taken to the man’s family and bathed by his aunt or mother.
Butita argued that the practice carries cultural significance among some Luhya families and joked that it could serve as an unofficial paternity test.
He further said he was surprised that a man could raise a child for many years without knowing whether he was the biological father.
Additionally , Butita suggested that if the child is not biologically related to the family, the consequences associated with the traditional practice would reveal it.
The comedian further went on to describe some Luhya customs as practices that, in his view, can raise questions about paternity without requiring a medical test.
