Dubai Airport Halts Flights After Drone Attack

Dubai International Airport has temporarily suspended flights after a drone attack that ignited a fire near the airport.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Monday, March 16, 2026, prompting the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority to temporarily suspend all flights in and out of the airport as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers and staff.

“DCAA announces the temporary suspension of flights at Dubai International Airport as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all passengers and staff. Travellers are advised to contact their respective airlines for the latest updates regarding their flights,” the authority said.

Reports indicate that the attack at the airport hit a fuel tank, leading to the fire, though authorities reported that the fire was contained.

However, no injuries were reported.

This becomes the latest incident and the third at the airport since the conflicts began, following similar strikes on March 7 and March 11 that led to a brief suspension of operations.

Travellers have since been advised by authorities to contact their respective airlines for flight updates.

Additionally, some flights have been diverted to Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) as a temporary measure.

This has caused uncertainty for Kenyans who are still working in Dubai, as the latest move has led to disruptions in flights.

Several Kenyans were successfully repatriated to Kenya earlier this month.
