The lawsuit, filed in 2018, was over an article published in The Nairobian that allegedly contained false and damaging allegations against Kaluma and his family.

Despite securing the substantial Ksh 11 million payout, Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has indicated that he intends to pursue further legal action.
The vocal lawmaker revealed that he plans to appeal to the court for additional compensation and is considering filing another lawsuit over the continued publication of the defamatory article.
Kaluma, who has consistently defended his reputation against false allegations, stated that the payout, once received, will be donated to a charity of his choice.
The MP emphasized that his primary goal is not personal gain but to hold the media accountable for spreading harmful and unverified information that has affected him and his family.
