Atwoli Wants Chinese National in Viral Assault Video Deported

Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary-General Francis Atwoli has urged the government to take action against a Chinese national seen assaulting a Kenyan employee in a widely circulated video.

The individual, reportedly a senior at TCM Mabati Factory in Eldoret, was caught on camera hitting the worker, who remained restrained throughout the attack.

Atwoli described the incident as disturbing and condemned it as a serious violation of the rights and dignity of Kenyan workers.

COTU called on authorities to deport the foreign national and ensure such abuses are not tolerated.

Atwoli warned that government inaction on the matter would be a betrayal of Kenyan workers.

He formally petitioned Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen and Labour CS Alfred Mutua, demanding the immediate deportation of the Chinese national caught assaulting a worker at TCM Mabati Factory.

Atwoli called for the process to be carried out in coordination with Chinese authorities.

The call follows another recent incident at the Export Processing Zone, where Chinese national Xiao Jianzhoung was accused of mistreating junior employees.

Allegations include forcing staff to work long hours without proper pay and making them sing Chinese songs during work.

Atwoli has urged the Foreign Affairs Ministry to intervene and deport Xiao.
