Democratic Citizens Party (DCP) Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala has strongly rejected claims by Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is secretly collaborating with President Ruto.
While addressing supporters in Malava during a campaign for the party’s candidate, Edgar Busieka, ahead of the November 27th by-election, Malala insisted that Gachagua could not and would not reunite with the Head of State.
He dismissed Kioni’s remarks as part of a wider state-sponsored scheme aimed at sowing division within the United Opposition, which has been vocal in its criticism of the government.

Malala further accused Kioni of being a mole, arguing that the Jubilee official has never openly challenged government policies despite positioning himself within the opposition.
This comes days after Kioni claimed that the Gachagua was working with President William Ruto behind closed doors.
According to Kioni, Gachagua met leaders in Narok County at an undisclosed date, where he tried to explain why the DCP was denying Narok Town Ward aspirant Joshua Ole Kaputa a party ticket for the upcoming by-elections.
He went on to claim that the meeting had 15 members, among them members of the clergy, and that there was an arrangement made between him and President Ruto, and Joshua would be given a nomination at a later time.
Kioni further cautioned the opposition against repeating past mistakes in their quest to field a joint presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.
Kioni moreover cautioned that the opposition’s current choices could inadvertently give President Ruto an easy path to a second term.
He faulted the approach of leaving the decision on a flag bearer to a select few individuals, noting that the apparent indecisiveness among opposition leaders was undermining their collective strength.
