DCI Uncovers KDF Jackets Linked to Security Impersonation Gang

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have recovered military-style clothing and other items believed to be linked to a suspected criminal gang in a hideout in Eldoret.

In a statement, DCI revealed that the authorities raided a house in the Sungura area of Huruma Estate in Eldoret and recovered the clothes.

According to the authorities, they acted on credible intelligence that pointed to the premises as a suspected gang operational base.

“Acting on credible intelligence, detectives from DCI Soy conducted a raid on a house in the Sungura area. Preliminary investigations indicate that this premise served as a base of operations for the gang’s illicit activities,” DCI stated.

During the operation, DCI recovered five Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) jungle jackets, a heavy wedge hammer, a crowbar, two mobile phones and other items that investigators believe were used in the gang’s operations.

Preliminary investigations indicated the recovered military attire forms part of an ongoing probe into a criminal network suspected of masquerading as police officers and military personnel to carry out violent robberies across the Rift Valley region.

“A thorough search of the premises yielded an assortment of items linked to their criminal activities. Among the recovered items were five Kenya Defence Forces jungle jackets, a heavy wedge hammer, a crowbar, two mobile phones, among other items,” it added.

The recovered items have been secured for forensic examination as investigators seek to establish the full extent of the alleged syndicate’s activities.

The DCI further said that the detectives are pursuing other suspects believed to have escaped and are continuing investigations to identify additional members of the group and determine how they obtained the military clothing.
