Five women have been rescued from a house in Nairobi after detectives uncovered an alleged online sexual exploitation operation in which victims were reportedly lured with promises of lucrative job opportunities.
In a statement issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the authority revealed that officers from its Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) arrested three suspects after conducting an intelligence-led operation in the Mihang’o area of Embakasi East.
It warned that criminal networks are increasingly using fake employment opportunities to target vulnerable job seekers.
“The DCI cautions job seekers to exercise vigilance when responding to employment offers, particularly those from unverified recruiters, as criminal networks continue to exploit vulnerable individuals through false promises of lucrative jobs,” the DCI stated.
According to preliminary findings, the victims had accepted what they believed were genuine job offers before allegedly being forced to produce sexual content for commercial purposes.
Investigators said the women were found confined in two bedrooms inside the premises during the raid.
During the operation , detectives recovered several items from the house that they believe were used to facilitate the suspected operation, with the exhibits documented for investigations.
The suspects are in police custody at Kasarani Police Station, pending processing and arraignment in court.
