Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been handed an additional 13-year prison sentence in the Ksh588 million corruption and money-laundering case during his tenure.
According to reports, the court sentenced the former governor to different counts amounting to 13 years or a fine of Ksh21 million.
The court sentenced Waititu to five years in prison on Count 10, four years on Count 11 and another four years on Count 12, bringing his total sentence to 13 years.
However, Waititu will not serve additional prison time as a result of the latest sentences.

The court reportedly directed that the new terms run concurrently with his existing 12-year sentence imposed in February 2025 in another graft case.
The new move means the new sentences will be served alongside his existing term rather than being added to it.
Additionally, Waititu’s wife, Susan Wangari, was also handed penalties in connection with the three money-laundering counts.
The court fined her Ksh12 million on Count 10, while she received a two-year prison sentence or a Ksh2 million fine on Count 11.
She was further fined Ksh8 million on Count 12, bringing her total fines across the three counts to Ksh22 million.
