The High Court has postponed the sentencing dates for former Migori Governor Okoth Obado in the murder of Sharon Otieno to November 27.
The move followed the completion of the submissions from all parties.
In the ruling, the court had considered submissions made by the parties, including views presented by secondary victims affected by the case.
Additionally, the court would now retire to consider the issues raised during Wednesday’s proceedings before determining the appropriate sentence.

The court further explained that the ruling was set further out because the court begins its annual meeting on Thursday, September 17.
This means the court would retire to weigh everything raised during the hearing, alongside the written mitigation submissions and other material already filed.
It will now consider the probation reports, the victim impact statement, the prosecution’s submissions, and the defense mitigation.
This comes at a time when Sharon Otieno’s mother, Melida Auma, pleaded with the court not to send the former Governor to jail, requesting a lenient, non-custodial sentence.
She stated that punishing Obado with death or life imprisonment would feel like experiencing “another death” in her life.
