The Council of Governors (CoG) has recently convened an extraordinary meeting following Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga’s remarks on the death of Raila Odinga.
In a statement, CoG Chairperson Ahmed Abdullahi noted that the governors will meet on Wednesday to discuss Kahiga’s utterances.
“In light of the above, I have convened an urgent Extra-Ordinary Council Meeting to be held tomorrow morning to deliberate on these unfortunate utterances, and further statements will follow,” read the statement in part.

Abdullahi moreover expressed disappointment with the Nyeri Governor’s remarks on Raila, terming them as reckless and unacceptable.
He dissociated CoG from Governor Kahiga’s sentiments, noting they are personal views and do not reflect the views of the council.
Speaking on Tuesday during a funeral in Nyeri County, Governor Kahiga appeared to celebrate the death of Raila.
Governor Kahiga claimed that the death of the former Prime Minister was a blessing in disguise for the Mt Kenya region.
The Nyeri County boss claimed that Raila’s agreement with the current government had sidelined the Mt. Kenya region from accessing government resources.
