Chacha Mwita Remanded for Two Weeks as Terrorism Investigations Continue

The court has ordered 14-day detention for Lawyer Chacha Mwita.

Mwita will be detained for two weeks to allow investigations into terrorism charges.

While delivering the ruling, the court noted that it was important for the investigation process to be completed and evidence forwarded to the court before the accused could take a plea.

He was apprehended in Mombasa on November 14, 2025, and subsequently transported to Nairobi, where he spent the weekend in police custody.

According to the prosecutors, investigations have linked Mwita to a recruitment network in the Coastal region, purportedly assisting youths to join terrorist groups.

According to detectives, he used multiple mobile phone numbers to receive funds from Binance accounts allegedly connected to the financing of terrorist activities both locally and internationally.

The case will be mentioned on December, 1, 2025.
