Brighton Edge Getafe 1-0 to Maintain Unbeaten Conference League Start

Brighton and Hove Albion secured an important 1-0 away victory over Spanish side Getafe in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday night, November 5, maintaining their unbeaten start to the competition.

The Premier League side faced a difficult challenge against a stubborn Getafe defence, with the hosts creating early opportunities to take the lead. Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen was called into action to deny Ivan Azon from close range.

Brighton gradually grew into the match and came close to scoring through Jaouen Hadjam, whose efforts struck the woodwork on two occasions as the visitors searched for a breakthrough.

The decisive moment arrived in the 64th minute when Malick Yalcouye headed the ball into the net off the crossbar after connecting with a floated delivery from Costinha.

Getafe attempted to find an equaliser during the remaining minutes, but Brighton maintained their defensive organisation to protect the narrow advantage and secure all three points.

The victory strengthened Brighton’s position in the Conference League league phase and maintained their unbeaten record.

The result also demonstrated the English side’s ability to grind out victories in difficult European away fixtures.
