Human rights Activists Boniface Mwangi and Agatha Atuhaire have sued the Tanzanian government for allegedly violating human rights.
The two parties filed their case at the East African Court of Justice on Friday, July 18, 2025, and made several demands, including approximately Ksh 129 million each.
Both activists were allegedly tortured for three days by authorities in Tanzania.
This comes months after the duo claimed they were abducted, tortured and sexually assaulted.

Mwangi and Atuhaire also accused the Kenyan and Ugandan governments of complicity in their alleged abductions.
They are now demanding a public apology from the three States.
The two further demanded rehabilitation and psychological support over their ordeal in Tanzania.
They had travelled in Tanzania to support Tanzania’s opposition leader Tindu Lissu, who is currently facing treason charges.
