A junior secondary school teacher who had been identified as the prime suspect in the murder of prison warder Abigail Chepkemoi was found dead in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County, on Saturday, July 26.
Police said the teacher’s body was discovered hours after Chepkemoi was found dead at her home in Bomet County, in an incident that has left investigators probing two linked deaths.
Preliminary investigations suggest the teacher may have died by suicide after allegedly killing the prison officer.

However, detectives stressed that investigations into both deaths are ongoing and that no final conclusions have been reached.
The discovery came shortly after police launched investigations into Chepkemoi’s death at her residence in Bomet County.
Sotik Sub-County Police Commander Sammy Choge confirmed the incident, saying detectives had processed the crime scene and collected evidence to establish the sequence of events.
Investigators are exploring the possibility that the deaths may have been triggered by a suspected love triangle, although they cautioned that the motive has not been conclusively established.
Choge noted that police were examining all available evidence and would only release comprehensive findings after completing investigations.
Detectives are also analysing a message allegedly sent by the teacher to a group shortly after the incident.
Investigators believe the communication could help establish the timeline and circumstances surrounding the deaths.
Meanwhile, Chepkemoi’s body was moved to Kaplong Mission Hospital Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is expected to determine the exact cause of death.
